Just before 8:30 p.m. on a Friday, the Frontenac Police Department receives a 911 call reporting shots fired. Officers locate the victim, Jonathan D. Brewer, 39, of Frontenac, unconscious at a neighbor’s residence according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
EMS arrives and attempts life-saving measures, but the victim is pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that Brewer and a neighbor, identified as Michael C. Simpson, 19, are involved in a dispute. Simpson is suspected of shooting Brewer during the altercation.
Simpson is arrested on charges of second-degree murder and is booked into the Crawford County Jail, where he is being held without bond, according to online jail records.
