DailyKenn.com — Lori Lightfoot, mayor of Chicago, called for police protection after a massive crowd of BLM sympathizers converged in her neighborhood.
Lightfoot had earlier slammed law enforcement, saying, "We must face and not ignore the fact that Chicago, as well as way too many parts of our country, has a long legacy of police violence and police misconduct. That has left far too many residents especially those that are black and brown in a constant state of fear and pain."
The protesters descended on Lightfoot's neighborhood in the wake of a police shooting to took the life of a 13-year-old Hispanic boy who was roaming the streets at 4:00 a.m. while armed with a handgun. A report on Twitter said the protesters filled a street for about one-half of a mile.
