DailyKenn.com — Arlington police officer Darrin McMichael died from a hit-and-run incident in Arlington, TX.
Quintairo Watson, a 26-year-old Mississippi man, has been arrested in connection with the September 2023 crash.
McMichael, a 24-year veteran of the Arlington Police Department, was on his police motorcycle on I-20 in Dallas County when traffic slowed down, causing him to bump into the car in front of him and fall off his motorcycle. He was then struck by an SUV, which fled the scene.
McMichael's wife witnessed the incident as she was following him in a separate vehicle.
Following an investigation by the Dallas County Sheriff's Office and Arlington PD, Watson was identified as the driver of the SUV. He was arrested in Mississippi by the U.S. Marshals Task Force after an arrest warrant was issued. The investigation involved tracking down the suspect using cell tower data and information provided by a parolee.
The case remains open, and it is unclear if there will be any further arrests.
