An Oakland County deputy was shot and killed in the line of duty Saturday night, according to the sheriff's office.

As the detective followed the vehicle, the driver stopped, and people exited the car, opening fire on Reckling in what was described as “an ambush.”

Reckling was shot in the head, chest, and torso. The unmarked car did not have a dash camera.

Three were taken into custody. The media neglected to mention their race.
