Tied, gagged and left to die: 78-year-old S African farmer murdered in cold blood

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at approximately 17:15, a brutal attack took place at Stoffkraal Farm in Harteles, Limpopo, resulting in the murder of a 78-year-old farmer.

The victim, who lived alone, was discovered the following morning, Thursday, May 1, 2025, by a family member. The farmer was found in the bathroom, bound with wire and gagged with a cloth, surrounded by a pool of blood and bearing severe wounds to the forehead.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim's blue Cherry motor vehicle was spotted along the R555 public road heading towards the Burgersfort policing area. The vehicle was later found abandoned and overturned about six kilometers from the crime scene.

Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Samuel Manala, has instructed police to mobilize all available resources to track down the suspects responsible for the crime.

The Roossenekal police, under the Sekhukhune District, have opened a murder case and are urging anyone with information that could lead to the apprehension of the suspects to come forward.
