A convicted former ISIS supporter carried out a deadly shooting at Old Dominion University in Virginia, while a vehicle-ramming and shooting attack targeted a synagogue in Michigan—both incidents prompting scrutiny of monitoring former offenders and counterterrorism measures.
Concurrently, California lawmakers advanced a bill to recognize Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as state holidays, fueling debates over religious equity versus governmental neutrality.

The floodgates were opened. Aliens poured into America like locusts destined for a feast of rye and barley. Scattered among them were a handful of decent people wanting to better their lives and contribute to our traditional way of life. And a few wanted more than a feast of rye and barley. They wanted to burn the barn and blow up the farmhouse.
Recent events expose the porosity of our borders, even with Donald Trump at the helm. This is made evident by several unrelated but widely discussed stories that have converged, each raising broader questions about how institutions operate—and how the public responds.
It's serious business.
Questions Surrounding a Terror Case
A pair of violent incidents occurring within hours of each other—one at a university in Virginia and another at a synagogue in Michigan—drew significant attention not only because of their proximity in time, but also because of what followed.
This is serious stuff.
In the Virginia case, the attacker was identified as a man who had previously been convicted of providing material support to ISIS. Reports confirmed that he had once served in the Virginia Army National Guard and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Yes. You read that correctly. An Islamic terrorist served in the U.S. military. During the attack, witnesses said he shouted religious phrases before opening fire. The situation ended when individuals at the scene intervened and stopped him before law enforcement arrived.
How many lone wolves are embedding themselves in America's armed forces? Intelligence services? Bureaucracy?
The circumstances have prompted renewed scrutiny of how individuals with prior terrorism-related convictions are handled after release. Court records indicate that the attacker had pleaded guilty years earlier to supporting ISIS, including financial contributions and attempts to acquire weapons. He received a prison sentence shorter than what prosecutors initially sought and was released early after completing a rehabilitation program.
This sequence of events has led to several unresolved questions. Why was his citizenship not revisited after a terrorism conviction? What factors contributed to his early release? And how are such cases monitored once individuals reenter society?
'Civil liberties' is often 'civil anarchy'
While many terrorists come from other countries, the expansion of Islam in America is fertile soil for homegrown terrorists.
Some reporting has also pointed to the role of federal informants during the original investigation. Defense arguments suggested that interactions with informants may have influenced the suspect’s actions. While such tactics are not uncommon in counter-terrorism operations, they remain controversial and have been debated in other cases as well.
Whether viewed as a failure of policy, enforcement, or judgment, the incident has become part of a broader discussion about how the justice system balances civil liberties with national security concerns. As a conservative with a strong libertarian bent, I understand that what we call 'civil liberties' is often 'civil anarchy.'
Islam pushed to the front
At the same time, a legislative proposal in California has sparked a different kind of debate. Lawmakers have introduced a bill that would designate Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as official state holidays, joining a small but growing number of states taking similar steps. It's a strategy that seems to invite Muslims to swell the number of Democrats in those respective states.
So, how are Islamic terrorists finding their way into America? They are being invited en masse by Democrats under the ruse of inclusion and invitation to sanctuary jurisdictions.
Supporters argue that the measure reflects the state’s diversity and ensures that Muslim residents can observe important religious holidays without professional or academic penalties. In their view, such recognition is a matter of inclusion and equal treatment. Note that June 3, Jefferson Davis's birthday, is not on their calendar. Confederates are not included in their own country.

Opponents, however, see the proposal differently. Critics argue that government recognition of additional religious holidays raises questions about consistency and precedent. Some contend that public institutions should limit official observances altogether, rather than expand them.
It's not merely Confederates who are not included. There may be as many as 10,000 distinct religions with Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Folk Religionists, Baha’is, Jains, Shintoists, Sikhs, Taoists, followers of Tenrikyo, Wiccans and Zoroastrians being the most observed. Pew Research reports that 80 percent of us identify with a religion. Let's patiently wait for Gov. Newsom to be inclusive.
The discussion often turns to historical context. Christmas, for example, is widely recognized in the United States not only as a religious holiday but also as a cultural one, observed by many people regardless of faith. Whether newer proposals carry the same cultural weight is part of the ongoing debate.
Ultimately, the issue highlights a broader tension: how governments acknowledge religious diversity while maintaining neutrality.
The point is that Islam, known to kill about 10,000 people annually according to thereligionofpeace.com, is more equal than other religions and is embedding itself in our country.
