CHICAGO — A 38-year-old Chicago man faces first-degree murder charges after authorities say he shot and killed Mark Lagodinski, a 63-year-old condominium board president who tried to enforce a court order barring him from the property.

Jonathan Wilson allegedly returned to the building late Monday evening, June 15, 2026, despite a recent protective order. Prosecutors say the victim confronted him, leading to a fatal shooting. Wilson then fled the scene. Officers spotted him nearby, and during a foot chase, he pointed a gun at them. Police fired, striking Wilson. He survived and received treatment.

A Cook County judge ordered Wilson held in custody following a detention hearing. He faces additional charges, including felon in possession of a weapon, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and multiple counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

The case highlights the risks that volunteers and board members sometimes face when addressing building issues or enforcing orders in residential complexes. Wilson had been arrested at the same location about a week earlier in connection with an alleged domestic incident.

Wilson could not attend his initial court appearance in person because of his injuries from the police shooting. Court records show he remains in custody as the case proceeds. The victim's name has not been publicly released by officials.

Authorities continue to investigate the sequence of events. No further details about a possible motive beyond the confrontation over the protective order have been disclosed.
