The white European race has been in countless thousands of years of making. About 4,000 years ago, we reached the apex of human existence and have been privileged to enhance humanity with everything from aqueducts to aerodynamics to advanced healthcare. But, in my lifetime, something changed. Our race reversed course on a scale that is unprecedented. Statisticians inform us that we are embarking upon the last century of our existence.

In the last half of the past century, the percentage of the world’s population classified as “white” or of predominantly European descent has steadily declined. This shift reflects broad demographic forces: differential fertility rates, rapid population growth in Asia and Africa, and the earlier demographic transition in Europe and its diaspora. While exact figures vary by definition and source—there is no official UN racial category—the overall direction is obvious.
Historical estimates place the global share of European‑descent populations at 30–36% in 1900 and about the same, 30–33%, in 1950. By 1975, however, the share had fallen to 24–25%, reflecting accelerating population growth in the developing world that were outpacing white populations in Europe, North America, Australia/New Zealand, and white diaspora populations elsewhere.
The decline continued into the modern era. It dropped to around 15–16% in 2000, and further to 10–14% in 2025, depending on whether mixed‑ancestry populations are included. Europe itself now represents only about 9% of the global population, and its fertility rates remain among the lowest in the world.
Using the observed trend, the expected percentages for future years fall into consistent ranges:
2050: 7–10%
2075: 5–8%
2100: 4–7%
These projections align with UN regional forecasts showing Europe’s white population shrinking in absolute terms while Africa’s black population quadruples. That translates into fewer producers and far more consumers.
What About 2125?
Extending the same rate of decline another 25 years — 99 years from now — suggests a global share of roughly 3–6% by 2125. This estimate is not a precise forecast but a continuation of the long‑term pattern: decline in European‑descent populations versus rapid growth elsewhere. Fertility changes, migration, and evolving definitions of ancestry could shift the numbers, but the broad trajectory remains downward.
Importantly, a declining percentage does not guarantee a collapse in absolute numbers. The global population will likely exceed 10 billion by 2125, meaning even 3–6% represents hundreds of millions of people of European descent worldwide. More likely, the world's pure-white population will be absorbed through exogamy.
