In Selmer, Tennessee, an 18-year-old named Jakobe Hill surrendered to the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office after a fatal shooting on Friday morning at 906 Peach Street. Hill has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of Jefferey Owen.
According to a report from the Selmer Police Department, the incident unfolded when Hill, a passenger in a Chevrolet Impala heading to Selmer Food Mart, parked in front of the store's door. Jefferey Owen spoke to the driver, identified as Alexis Iannaco. A verbal exchange occurred between Hill and Owen, leading to Hill pushing Owen.
An employee encouraged Hill to enter the business, which he did. Upon returning, Hill engaged Owen again, removing a baseball cap from his head. Subsequently, Hill retrieved a handgun from the vehicle and shot Owen in the abdomen.
The victim, Jefferey Owen, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. David James of the Jackson Medical Center. The Selmer Police Department's Lt. Teddy Roberts filed the report, noting that the shooting was captured on the store's surveillance video.
