DailyKenn.com — Alexa Stakely, 29, was killed during a Columbus, OH carjacking.
Two 16-year-old boys and 19-year-old Gerald Dowling were arrested.
Stakely, a single mother, was killed while attempting to stop a carjacking with her son in the car.
The victim was struck and killed around 1:30 a.m. while picking up her child from a babysitter’s apartment. Police reported that as Stakely ran back to the apartment to retrieve her son’s belongings, someone started to drive away in her vehicle. She was hit by the car, which was later found abandoned nearby with her son safe and still asleep inside.
Stakely, a school speech therapist, had just finished a shift at her second job when she arrived to pick up her son.
Surveillance photos and videos show three suspects walking away from the abandoned vehicle.
Stakely chose to work two jobs to make ends meet while the three suspects apparently chose to steal from those who work rather than work themselves.
