The fatal shooting of a black male, allegedly by another black male with 41 prior arrests, underscores persistent issues of violent crime, recidivism, and the cavalier disregard of the leftist judicial system towards black communities.

Suspect Charged in Motel Robbery-Murder of Charlotte Man; 3 Others Sought

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (DailyKenn.com) — A 32-year-old man with more than 40 prior arrests faces first-degree murder and robbery charges in the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old guest at a south Charlotte motel earlier this month, authorities said, as police continue hunting for three additional suspects.

Ronnie Eugene Fewell was arrested Oct. 21 in connection with the Oct. 10 killing of Ronald Neville, who was found shot multiple times inside a room at the Motel 6 on the 4800 block of Wallingford Street, off West Woodlawn Road. The incident, reported around 5:30 p.m. after officers responded to assist medics, has been classified as a homicide stemming from a robbery gone wrong.

According to an arrest affidavit, surveillance video captured four individuals approaching Neville's room, forcing entry and fleeing seconds later. Neville, a Charlotte resident originally from nearby Gastonia, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds. Homicide detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department believe the group targeted Neville for a robbery, though a motive beyond theft has not been publicly detailed.

Fewell, who has a lengthy criminal history including larceny, drug possession and assault convictions dating back to his teens, was identified as the alleged shooter through the motel footage and tips from the community. He was booked into the Mecklenburg County Detention Center without bond and is scheduled for an initial court appearance next week. The three unidentified accomplices — described as two men and one woman in their 20s or 30s — remain at large, with police urging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 704-334-1600.

Neville, described by family as a devoted father and grandfather who worked as a warehouse supervisor, leaves behind two adult children and three grandchildren. "Ron was the rock of our family, always putting others first," his daughter, Lisa Neville, said in a statement. "We just want justice so we can start healing."

The slaying marks the latest in a violent stretch for Charlotte, where eight homicides were reported in the week following the incident amid a spike in gun-related crimes. Police Chief Johnny Jennings highlighted the role of surveillance technology and community partnerships in Fewell's quick apprehension but cautioned that the investigation is ongoing.
