ST. LOUIS — A 23-year-old St. Louis man died early Monday from gunshot wounds after his car overturned in a shooting in the city’s Patch neighborhood, police said.
Homicide detectives took over the investigation later that morning. Police identified Willis, a St. Louis resident, the following day. Authorities have not released details about what led to the shooting or whether anyone else was involved.
No suspects have been named, and no arrests have been made. Homicide investigators have not filed any charges in the case. Police have not disclosed any witness accounts or additional evidence from the scene.

Officers from
the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s District 1 responded
shortly after 1 a.m. March 30 to reports of shots fired in the 7600
block of South Broadway. When they arrived, they found a white vehicle
that had crashed onto its driver’s side. Inside was Cameron Willis, who
had been shot at least once. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident remains under active investigation as detectives work to piece together events leading to the crash and fatal shooting.
