19-year-old Alexandros Paporakis was born male but identified as a female. He also identified as a "neo-Nazi," reports say.

I'm certain he did not have XX chromosomes, and I seriously doubt he was a bona fide National Socialist.

When the story showed up in my Facebook feed, I decided to look a little deeper. Here's what I discovered:

The Taco Bell Tattler

The investigation into Alexandros Paporakis of Palatine, Illinois, took a serious turn on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, when police arrested him after receiving information about communications describing a potential attack.

According to authorities, a co-worker at Taco Bell reported receiving disturbing messages from Paporakis. The information was passed to police, prompting officers from Palatine and Mount Prospect to coordinate their response. Investigators believe the alleged target was a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois.

Alleged Attack Plan

Additional details emerged during a news conference on Oct. 15. Prosecutors said Paporakis had gone to the temple area on Oct. 11 with a rifle and attempted to shoot a person from his vehicle. The weapon allegedly malfunctioned, preventing him from firing.

According to the prosecution's account, Paporakis later communicated with a co-worker about the incident and indicated that he wanted to try again. The co-worker contacted authorities, helping investigators intervene before another attempt could occur.

Police also searched Paporakis' residence. They reported finding a rifle, loaded magazines, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, body armor and items displaying "white supremacist" or Nazi-related imagery.

Investigators also recovered an eight-page document titled “Why I Fought: A.K.A.: (Aurora Shooter's Manifesto).” According to reports describing the document, it contained statements some would find extremist and discussed violence against people of India'n and other racial backgrounds.

Charges and Ongoing Proceedings

Paporakis faces a felony charge of making a terrorist threat and another charge involving the unlawful possession of a rifle with a barrel shorter than 16 inches.

Authorities have described the investigation as an effort to determine the scope of the alleged plan and establish the evidence surrounding it. The FBI has assisted local law enforcement.

Paporakis was ordered detained pending further court proceedings, with another court appearance scheduled for Oct. 30, according to published reports.

The case highlights how information shared by someone who receives troubling communications can give investigators an opportunity to act before an alleged plan progresses further. For now, the criminal proceedings will determine what the evidence establishes about Paporakis' intentions, actions and responsibility.
