To win the election, a candidate was required to receive at least 50 percent of the vote in a special runoff. Because no candidate received more than half of the overall vote, another runoff will occur between the two candidates who received the most votes.

Those two candidates are Susan Wright, wife of the late Ron Wright, and stat Rep. Jake Ellzay. Both are Republicans, assuring the GOP will retain the seat. Wright receive 19 percent of the vote compared to Ellzay's 14 percent. Wright is expected win the general election.

Republican activist Susan Wright will meet state Rep. Jake Ellzey in a Congressional District 6 runoff to replace the late Ron Wright.
Wright finished in first-place in a 23-person filed with 19% of the vote. Ellzey was second with nearly 14%, narrowly beating Democrat Jana Lynne Sanchez, who finished a close third with about 13% of the vote.
