Reports say Etute showed up at an apartment expecting a female date arranged on a dating app. The victim was apparently assaulted because he was a male. Etute is a freshman Virginia Tech linebacker.
Smith died June 1, 2021.

Ismemen David Etute, 18, told cops he went to the Blacksburg apartment of 40-year-old Jerry Smith in April for oral sex after matching up with someone named “Angie” on Tinder, the Roanoke Times reported.
