AbateHate.com — David Green, age 58, and Ramona Cooper, age 60, were fatally shot in Winthrop, Massachusetts.
The suspect, 28-year-old Nathan Allen, was fatally shot by police.
Reports say Allen crashed a large stolen truck into a building and fled on foot, shooting bystanders. The victims were shot multiple times.
Reports also say Allen had no criminal record, was married, and held a PhD.
Green was a retired state trooper and Cooper was an Air Force veteran.
Unlike most news stories reporting inter-racial homicides, reports of this incident emphasized the races of the victims and suspect in this incident.
The shootings occurred June 26, 2021.
One of the two victims fatally shot by a suspected gunman Saturday in Winthrop is a retired Massachusetts State Police trooper, sources told MassLive.
Authorities have not released the name of the retired trooper. Police have also not identified a female shooting victim or the suspected gunman, who was fatally shot by officers responding to the scene.
Around 2:45 p.m., a large truck crashed into a building near the intersection of Shirley and Cross streets in Winthrop. At that time, police received reports of shots fired, according to a statement from Winthrop Police Chief Terence Delehanty.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he died. The female victim and retired state police trooper, who were both shot by the gunman, died from their injuries.
