AbateHate.com — Jerry Smothers, age 63, was fatally shot in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Arrested was 22-year-old Dahsir Thomas Welch who faces charges of "first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle," according to wral.com.
Reports say Smothers was working as a security guard at a renovation site where he was shot execution style. The shooter took the victims' wallet and his pickup truck.
Smother's sister reportedly said, "We're beginning to feel like it may be a hate crime. I think this boy set out to do harm to an elderly white person, according to what's on his Facebook page, and I think he just happened to pull my brother."
