Pickens was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, and evading arrest.
Sharrets was the owner of Bayou Bistro in Bayou Vista.
He was a popular figure in the area.
Sharrets was driving on Highway when shot from a passing vehicle.
He died at a local hospital.
