One murder won't be on the list because the assailant's gun apparently jammed during a robbery attempt is Las Vegas, NV.
The victim was approached at his suburban home (nowhere is safe). He runs for safety as a gun-toting assailant follows. A handgun is pointed at the victim but, apparently, fails to function and the assailants runs off.
Had neighbors pursued the assailant as he jogged through the neighborhood, they would have been castigated as "racists."
Far worse may have been the outcome if the assailant had been captured and died in an exchange of gunfire. The good Samaritans likely would have been arrested for murder, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison. Such was case in the death of Ahmaud Arbery. Arbery, a 25-year-old Black male, was accosted by White neighbors in a Georgia neighborhood. They were found guilty on murder charges and sentenced to life in prison after defending themselves after Arbery pulled a gun on them.
