That seems to be the sentiments expressed by European Union foreign policy chief Josep Borrell in a recent speech.
A wall, Borrell explained, is insufficient to protect Europe.
“The gardeners have to go to the jungle. Europeans have to be much more engaged with the rest of the world. Otherwise, the rest of the world will invade us, by different ways and means,” he said.
Borrell seems to consider the European Union, or perhaps Western Europe, as the "garden" and Russia, which is also European, as part of his "jungle".
Al Jazeera, a news organization with apparent biases favoring the Middle East and Islam, described the comments as "Trumpian" and racist.
