DailyKenn.com —  51-year-old Michael Matthew Brady was fatally stabbed while riding a mass transit train in Portland, OR.

Shondel Larkin, 51, was arraigned on a second-degree murder charge.

Brady, returning from work around 6 p.m., encountered 51-year-old Shondel L. Larkin, who allegedly stabbed him as they both sat on the train. The Medical Examiner determined Brady's passing as a homicide caused by a stab wound to his upper body. According to the Portland Police Bureau (PPB), witness testimonies and surveillance footage portrayed the stabbing as an unprovoked assault.

PPB stated, "There was no prior interaction between Brady and the suspect before the assault occurred."

Upon police arrival at the scene, Brady was found on the station platform. Larkin was promptly apprehended and charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.

Nora Brady, the victim's wife said, "I want people to remember my husband as the wonderful human being he was, a devoted father to our 6-year-old son, and a loving husband. Michael Brady was truly exceptional."

Some believe such senseless criminal violence was the reason racial segregation laws were enacted.
