DailyKenn.com — Kevin Weeks, a 57-year-old teacher at Battle Ground High School in Washington, was arrested in Oregon on Saturday for first-degree online sexual corruption of a minor. He is currently held at Linn County Jail in Oregon.

Weeks, who has been teaching business and marketing at Battle Ground High School since 2002, was placed on administrative leave by Battle Ground Public Schools following his arrest.

He was arrested at Bowman Park in Albany, Oregon, which is near Interstate 5 and the Willamette River. Under Oregon law, online sexual corruption of a minor is defined as an adult knowingly using online communication to solicit a minor for sexual contact or sexually explicit conduct and taking intentional steps toward a physical meeting.

The school district announced on Monday that they are arranging for a substitute teacher to cover Weeks' classes. Additionally, extra counselors will be available at the school to support students and staff during this time.

Charbonneau Gourde, the principal of Battle Ground High School, sent an email to staff and families on Sunday addressing Weeks' arrest. In the email, Gourde emphasized the seriousness of the situation and stated that Weeks will not be at the school while the district conducts its investigation. The school will also cooperate with law enforcement in their investigation.

Gourde reassured that Weeks' actions do not reflect the values or character of the school or district and that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the students.

The Albany Police Department is currently leading the investigation into the matter.
