DailyKenn.com — Tara Marie and Taylor Jones were fatally shot outside their Wellington, FL home.

Norman Scott, 63, was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Deputies discovered the bodies of the victims in the front yard of their residence.

Scott confessed to killing them over a dispute related to a basketball hoop, deputies reported, asserting that he acted in self-defense.

Witnesses corroborated Scott's admission of guilt

Scott claimed that an argument over the hoop and property boundaries escalated into a physical altercation, prompting him to shoot the victims.

Surveillance footage from Scott's residence captured the altercation, showing Taylor Jones engaged in routine activities before Scott approached him. Despite Taylor's non-threatening demeanor, Scott appeared agitated, eventually retrieving a handgun and firing multiple shots at both victims.

Scott's attorney described him as a churchgoer and full-time mechanic, unwittingly implying that even "the good ones" can be impulsive and, consequently, dangerous.

The incident underscores out need for freedom of association, a liberty that was snatched away from us by the Fair Housing Act signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. This act prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

The Jones' four children are now orphaned. Is that "fair" housing?
