DailyKenn.com — Social worker Maria Coto, 56, died after being beaten and kicked in Peekskill, NY.
Haseem Jenkins, 31, was arrested.
Coto was reportedly attacked by Jenkins after she mistakenly knocked on his door while looking for someone on the third floor of a building in Peekskill. Jenkins allegedly punched and kicked her with heavy boots.
After the attack, Coto fled to a neighbor's apartment. Jenkins allegedly followed her, repeatedly shouting, "I'm going to kill you. I'm going to kill you, b****," according to a neighbor who spoke to CBS New York's Tony Aiello.
The attack occurred May 14, 2024 and Coto remained on life support until her death June 19th.
Coto's death underscores the danger of venturing into an urban jungle. It also demonstrates that the denizens of such neighborhoods have little respect for social workers; those who are attempting to help them.
