Skyler Pattillo, 20, fatally shot in Wilmington, NC

DailyKenn.com — Skyler Pattillo, 20, was fatally shot in Wilmington, NC.

Police have charged Triston Spencer, 21, with involuntary manslaughter.

Investigators determined that a firearm was discharged, mistakenly believed to be unloaded. Upon arrival, police found the victim with critical injuries. She was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center, where she later passed away.

Black-on-white homicides are often characterized as "accidental."
