SMYRNA, Tenn. — Two Smyrna residents have been charged with second‑degree murder in the fatal shooting of 22‑year‑old Noah Taylor, who was killed during what investigators believe to have been a road‑rage incident on Interstate 24. The arrests were announced on July 18, 2025.

Taylor, employed at a CarTronics facility in Nashville, had recently earned a promotion and was en route to work when the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m. Saturday, July 12, 2025, near the Waldron Road exit between Rutherford County and Davidson County. According to sheriff’s deputies, multiple rounds were fired from a dark‑colored Infiniti SUV into Taylor’s vehicle, causing him to lose control and crash into other vehicles before ending up off the roadway in a tree line.

Investigators believe Taylor did not know the suspects prior to the shooting. The two individuals detained are LaTashia McGowan, 40, and Glenn Branson, 41, both residents of Legacy Court in Smyrna.

McGowan was held under $250,000 bond, while Branson’s bond was set at $1 million. Their initial hearings are scheduled for Sept. 23 in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.

In the days following the shooting, law enforcement urged motorists traveling on I‑24 between Interstate 840 and the Bell Road exit between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. on the morning of the shooting to review their dash‑cam footage. Officials believe video from nearby vehicles could yield crucial evidence regarding the suspect vehicle.

Taylor’s family has offered a $2,000 reward for credible tips, while Rutherford County Crime Stoppers has added up to an additional $1,000, with anonymity guaranteed for tips leading to an arrest.

Community members remember Taylor as active in his church’s Spanish ministry and celebrated his recent birthday in June. His funeral was held the same day as the arrests, adding a poignant note to the family’s grief and the first steps toward justice.
