HARTFORD, Vt. — A 65-year-old man from Canaan, New Hampshire, was fatally shot in a targeted incident at a home in Hartford, Vermont, early Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025, authorities said. David Labrecque was pronounced dead at the scene on Verna Court near VA Cutoff Road, while a 36-year-old woman, Jessica Lemay, also from Canaan, was critically injured with multiple gunshot wounds. Lemay was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where she is receiving treatment and is expected to survive.

Vermont State Police, along with the Hartford Police Department, responded to a 911 call reporting a disturbance around 3:50 a.m. The investigation led to the arrest of three suspects on Friday, Aug. 22, 2025.

Demetrius Drew, 30, of New Haven, Connecticut, faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Jeffrey Mullins, 46, and Michelle Mullins, 48, both of Rindge, New Hampshire, were charged as accessories before the fact. All three are being held without bail and were scheduled for arraignment Friday afternoon at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in White River Junction. Authorities have not released further details, citing an ongoing investigation, with additional information expected to be made public following the arraignments.
