SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Nicole H. Azzoto, a 40-year-old Syracuse resident, was found dead in her home on July 18, 2025, in what police described as a domestic shooting. Authorities charged Anthony Price, 56, with second-degree murder in connection with her death, which has left the Syracuse community in mourning.

Syracuse police responded to a welfare check at 103 Glass Terrace around 2:25 p.m. on July 18 after concerns were raised about Azzoto’s well-being. Upon arrival, officers discovered Azzoto deceased under suspicious circumstances. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Syracuse Police Department’s Homicide Unit launched an investigation, conducting interviews, canvassing the neighborhood, and executing search warrants. Evidence analysis led to Price, who was present at the residence, being identified as the suspect. He was taken into custody the same day and charged with second-degree murder, a Class A-1 felony. Price is being held without bail at the Onondaga County Justice Center, awaiting arraignment.

Azzoto, a licensed cosmetologist and Syracuse native, was remembered as a vibrant and compassionate individual. She graduated from C.W. Baker High School and worked as a hairstylist in the Syracuse area. Known for her kind heart and sense of humor, she leaves behind two children, Harper and Greyson Meloling, their father Peter Meloling, her father John T. Azzoto, brother Brandon Azzoto, aunt Janet L. Coulter, and cousin Amanda, whom she considered a sister. A growing memorial of flowers and candles outside her home reflects the community’s grief.

Police have not disclosed the specific cause of death beyond confirming it was a shooting, nor have they detailed the relationship between Azzoto and Price, citing the ongoing investigation. The case has sparked community discussions about domestic violence and safety, with advocates urging increased vigilance and support for those at risk.Azzoto’s funeral services were held on July 29, 2025, at Maurer Funeral Home Moyers Corners in Baldwinsville, following calling hours. The community continues to honor her memory, with authorities seeking public assistance to clarify the circumstances of her death.
