FORT COLLINS, Colo. (DailyKenn.com) — An 18-year-old woman died from a gunshot wound in what authorities have ruled a domestic violence murder-suicide at an apartment complex in south Fort Collins.

Alyssa Paige Reardon, of Fort Collins, was transported to the Medical Center of the Rockies after the shooting early Sept. 30 but succumbed to her injuries the following day, Oct. 1, according to the Larimer County coroner's office. The incident occurred in the 100 block of West Fairway Lane, where responding officers found Reardon injured and a 20-year-old man, Marcus E. Jackson, dead at the scene from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The coroner determined Reardon's death a homicide and Jackson's a suicide. Jackson, an Airman 1st Class in the U.S. Air Force's 90th Missile Security Forces Squadron at F.E. Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, was the suspected shooter, officials said. Both victims were Fort Collins residents.
Reardon, born Feb. 14, 2007, at Fort Carson, Colo., had recently moved to Buffalo, Wyoming, with her family. She is survived by her parents, Bryan and Becky Reardon; brothers Triston Peter, of Casper, Wyoming, and Parker Reardon, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina; and grandparents Connie Wood, of Glenrock, Wyoming, Virginia Reardon and Michael Reardon, of Casper. A celebration of life was held Oct. 8 at the Bomber Mountain Civic Center in Buffalo.
The shooting has renewed calls for domestic violence resources in Northern Colorado, including the SAVA Center for crisis intervention and advocacy, reachable at local hotlines, and Colorado Crisis Services at 844-493-8255 or by texting TALK to 38255.
