Crash kills two teenage girls; man charged with two counts of murder

VICTORVILLE, Calif. — Maddalyn Dailey had one short stop before dinner. She told her father she would take her best friend, Isabell Hill, home and come right back. On Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, that ride in Victorville, California, was never completed.

Two other cars traveling at extreme speed struck the vehicle Dailey was driving. Both girls died at the scene. Dailey was 17. Hill was 16. They were seniors at Sultana High School and had been close since elementary school. Family members called them Maddy and Izzy.

From a crash case to homicide counts

Two weeks later, prosecutors treated the deaths as more than a wreck.

On Friday, Aug. 28, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office charged Terry Lamar Easter, 50, of Apple Valley with two counts of murder. The office also charged him with engaging in a motor vehicle speed contest and willful child cruelty.

Authorities say Easter was driving a yellow Chevrolet Camaro and reached 117 mph. An 8-year-old child was in the car with him. After the impact, Easter left the child behind and fled, District Attorney Jason Anderson said.

“This was not an accident,” Anderson said. He described racing at that speed as a deliberate and extraordinarily dangerous choice that ended two young lives and put Easter’s own child in harm’s way.

Easter turned himself in to Victorville police on Aug. 26, a day after the California Highway Patrol announced a $1 million warrant. Bail was set at $1 million. Court records listed no attorney for him.

A second driver is also charged

Investigators say a Camaro and a Dodge Charger were moving at extremely high speeds before both hit the teens’ Acura. George Gary Sanchez, 49, of Riverside, was arrested soon after the crash. Officials identified him as the Dodge driver and booked him on suspicion of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter.

While looking for Easter, detectives also detained three other people as suspected accessories after the fact. Those three cooperated and were later released, CHP said.

Seniors with the year still ahead

Dailey lived in Victorville. Hill lived in nearby Hesperia. Family fundraisers described Dailey as a student who had only just started her senior year. Relatives remembered Hill as funny, smart, and grounded in her faith.

Dustin Dailey, Maddalyn’s father, said she left to take Hill home and planned to return for dinner. He heard the collision minutes later.

Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene. Separate GoFundMe pages were created to help the families with funeral and memorial costs.

Anderson said his office intends to hold Easter responsible for every life his alleged actions devastated.
