DALLAS, Texas — Julian Harris, a 23-year-old actor and recent college graduate, died Oct. 6, 2026, when a vehicle collision near White Rock Lake claimed the lives of him and his girlfriend, Madison “Madi” Duren, 22. Aldrea Rogers, 22, has since been arrested and charged in connection with both deaths. Rogers is black. The victims were white.
The case took a significant turn when investigators examined evidence indicating that the driver allegedly was traveling at a speed far above the posted limit shortly before the crash.
What happened
Harris was driving a Toyota Prius with Duren in the passenger seat when the vehicle was struck by a Hyundai Elantra, according to an arrest affidavit cited by FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
The collision occurred as Harris attempted to turn onto a major roadway. The impact killed him at the scene. Duren was taken to Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, where she later died from her injuries.
Three people in the other vehicle, including two young children, were also injured and survived.
Driver accused of excessive speeding
Rogers was arrested Oct. 16 and charged with two counts of manslaughter, according to Dallas County jail records reported by FOX 4.
An arrest affidavit alleges Rogers reached a speed of 82 mph before the collision in an area where the posted limit was 35 mph. If established in court, that evidence could be central to determining criminal responsibility for the deaths.
Rogers was being held in the Dallas County Jail with a combined bond of $500,000, according to reports published Oct. 18 and Oct. 20.
About the victims
Harris and Duren both graduated from Southern Methodist University and were building careers in theater. Their work included collaborations with North Texas companies such as Kitchen Dog Theater, Teatro Dallas and Hip Pocket Theatre.
Harris earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater with honors. Duren also earned a theater degree, and the couple had become active participants in the region's performing arts scene.
Southern Methodist University scheduled a memorial service honoring the pair for Oct. 31, 2026.
