DailyKenn.com — Päivi Räsänen, a physician and former Finland Interior Minister, believes homosexuality is sinful. Expressing those beliefs has resulted in her being charged with hate crimes against homosexuals.

After two years of investigations and multiple police interrogations, the nation's prosecution took action.

Räsänen quoted Romans 1:24-27 when criticizing her Christian denomination's participation in homosexual pride festivals. She also wrote a book titled, “Male and Female He  Created them,” and expressed her views on national television.

Take aways...

• Defending the rights of Christians to practice and talk about their Christianity is to defend homosexuals to practice and talk about their homosexuality.

• We wonder: Has Finland's government prosecuted homosexuals for vociferously disagreeing with traditional Christianity?

In August 2020, she wondered “whether these investigations are meant to cause censorship and timidity among people who have a Christian conviction”.

In answers to Evangelical Focus back in September 2019, she said: “I have a completely calm mind about this. I am going to use my freedom to believe and to speak accordingly, whatever the outcome of this process may be”. But she also was worried that in Finland, a country with a long Protestant history, “many, especially the young people, are afraid that if you are labelled as a Bible-believing Christian, it will hinder your career and social acceptance”.
