The suspect was identified as 23-year-old Caleb Heyward-Treib.
Reports say police found the suspect deceased in a backyard near the crime scene in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

police have identified two people who were found dead in southwest
Minot yesterday in a suspected murder-suicide as Carrie Welnel, 50, the
homicide victim, and Caleb Heyward-Treib, 23, the suspected perpetrator.
Welnel was found shot to death shortly after 7 a.m. and
Heyward-Treib was found dead in a backyard a short distance away from
the crime scene. There were no obvious signs of trauma on Heyward-Treib,
according to police, and his cause of death was not determined. There
will be an autopsy conducted.
