DailyKenn.com — An’Twan Gilmore, 27, was fatally shot in Washington, DC in 2021. 

Metropolitan Police Department Sgt. Enis Jevric, 41, was charged with murder in March 2023.

Headlines lead readers to believe Glimore was sleeping in his car when he was shot. In reality, Gilmore responded to police and, therefore, was almost certainly not asleep. The vehicle moved and, when ordered not to move, it abruptly stopped. 

Gilmore may have fallen asleep at a traffic light. No reports were found indicating whether or not alcohol or narcotics were found in his system.

He was armed, reports say. A firearm was clearly seen in his waist ban. 

Jevric — a surname that suggests east European ancestry — pleaded not guilty.
