DailyKenn.com — Paul Elmstrand, Matthew Ruge, and Adam Finseth were fatally shot in Burnsville, MN.
The suspect, 38-year-old Shannon Cortez Gooden, died in in the incident.
Elmstrand and Ruge were both 27-year-old police officers. Finseth, 40, was a firefighter and paramedic.
It is not known why the police were called to the residence.
Gooden was barricaded in a house with family members, including seven children. Negotiations lasted hours before the suspect opened fire. Officer Adam Medlicott was injured. Gooden's family was unharmed.
His criminal history reveals convictions for disorderly conduct in 2004 and 2005, along with a conviction for second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in 2007. Additionally, in 2020, he petitioned the court for the restoration of his firearm rights, as reported.
