DailyKenn.com — We have to say she's innocent until proven guilty, but a security video captured the incident.

Video footage emerged this week of an employee at the Sunrise Autism Center in Burnsville, Minnesota, repeatedly assaulting a 3-year-old boy during her first unsupervised shift. The employee in question is Arianna Williams, a 25-year-old, who has been charged with malicious punishment of a child. The incident was captured on surveillance video from inside the center.

In the video, the young boy is seen playing in a corner before Williams abruptly grabs his hand and slams him to the ground. When the child tries to get up, Williams forcefully shoves him down again, causing him to land on his back and scream in pain. The assault continues as Williams lifts the boy and throws him onto the floor12.

The incident occurred on Williams’ first day of being allowed to be with children unsupervised. The Sunrise Autism Center promptly terminated her employment and contacted the police. After being fired, Williams allegedly sent a text to a co-worker, stating, “I’d never purposely hurt anyone; I was just having a really bad start to the week.”

The victim’s mother, Farhiya, who is Somali American, expressed her shock and distress upon seeing the video. Her son had been diagnosed with autism the previous year, and she had enrolled him at the center for speech and occupational therapy. Unfortunately, he had only been attending for a week before the assault occurred3.

Sunrise Autism Center has emphasized that they are cooperating with the investigation, and their primary concern remains the safety and well-being of their clients. Williams is scheduled to appear in court on June 203. Such incidents are deeply troubling, and it is essential to prioritize the safety and care of vulnerable individuals in these settings.
