Some reports say the spontaneous response was triggered when far-left woke students replaced the American flag with a Palestinian flag.

The incident occurred amid ongoing pro-Palestinian protests at various colleges across the United States, including Ole Miss. Pro-Palestinian demonstrators are actively urging colleges to divest from Israel due to the ongoing conflict with Hamas militants in Gaza. Representative Mike Collins, a Georgia Republican, reposted the video, commenting, “Ole Miss taking care of business.”

However, Rob Smith, a U.S. veteran from the Iraq War, criticized Collins for sharing the video with a caption that he believes is inappropriate. Smith expressed concern that such actions contribute to the perception that the Republican Party is toxic to the majority of Black Americans2.
