DailyKenn.com — Displacement in corporate America is resulting in legal action. White men, it seems, prefer merit over Marxism.
IBM's subsidiary Red Hat is facing a lawsuit after the culling of 21 workers. All but one of the victims are white males, reports say.
A former sales chief, Allan Kingsley Wood, is taking legal action against IBM's Red Hat after he and 20 other white men were terminated during the software subsidiary's vigorous efforts to enhance diversity by recruiting more women and African Americans.
Wood, a white man, alleges that he experienced discrimination based on race and gender due to the company's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program, which established hiring targets for women and minorities.
The lawsuit was initiated by America First Legal (AFL), led by former Trump administration official Stephen Miller, as part of a broader campaign against DEI initiatives in various sectors, including businesses, colleges, and the military.
Miller's conservative group highlights a leaked 2021 video recording featuring IBM CEO Arvind Krishna promising consequences for executives who fail to meet diversity hiring quotas.
The lawsuit, filed by Wood, asserts that he was terminated because he opposed the DEI policies of the company, citing his religious and political beliefs advocating for merit-based hiring rather than considering immutable characteristics.
Red Hat, headquartered in North Carolina and a subsidiary of IBM specializing in open-source software, has not responded to requests for comment.
Wood, who served at Red Hat from 2015 to 2023, seeks financial compensation and the cessation of the company's DEI program.
According to the lawsuit, Red Hat implemented aggressive diversity hiring measures in 2021, including quotas aiming to achieve 30 percent female representation globally and 30 percent representation of people of color in the United States by 2028.
Wood's opposition to the DEI policies led to his termination, along with 21 other employees, almost all of whom were white men, as per the complaint.
The lawsuit alleges retaliation against Wood for expressing his beliefs, including cutting short his approved paid family leave.
AFL has previously lodged complaints against IBM with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), citing the leaked video footage of CEO Krishna discussing diversity initiatives.
These legal actions against Red Hat and IBM are part of a growing trend of challenges to DEI practices following the US Supreme Court's decision in June 2023 to end affirmative action in college admissions.
AFL has submitted over 30 complaints to the EEOC, alleging biased hiring and recruitment practices against white workers at major companies.
While proponents of DEI initiatives argue that they enhance workplace diversity and morale, critics contend that they promote discrimination against straight, white men under the guise of promoting inclusion.
Move each letter of IBM back one space, and you have HAL, a fictional artificial intelligence character and the main antagonist in Arthur C. Clarke's Space Odyssey series.
