Brandon Paramore, 39, was arrested.
Barsanti’s grandchildren found her body.
"They’re a family who seems to talk to each other quite a bit. They came over to check on her well-being and discovered the house unsecured," police explained. "The officers that were called to the scene reviewed the Ring video doorbell and recognized the voice as that of an individual they had encountered earlier in the day."
Investigators report that surveillance footage shows Paramore, possibly disguised with a wig, ringing Barsanti's doorbell and requesting to use her phone. When she refused, he forced his way inside.
"The door was open so they could communicate, and he forced his way in after that," stated Bedford Police Chief Bobby LaPenna.
Police noted that Paramore has a distinctive southern accent. Hours before approaching Barsanti’s home, he was reportedly loitering and panhandling at several businesses, which had contacted the police.
Following the discovery of Barsanti’s body and the review of the Ring camera footage, officers located Paramore and placed him under surveillance.
"We maintained a visual on the individual from the time we identified him as a person of interest, monitored his movements, and eventually approached him on the street to place him in custody for an unrelated charge," police said.
Police charged him with murder.
The motive for the crime remains unclear and the medical examiner has not yet released Barsanti’s cause of death, but police say her family indicated she appeared to have been struck with an unknown object.
The woke left criticizes whites who report suspicious blacks roaming their neighbohoods. In this case, a simple call to the police from a concerned neighbor could have saved the victim's life.
