DailyKenn.com — Alan David Whitworth, 48, was fatally shot in Phoenix, AZ.

31-year-old Marquea Cato was arrested.

Whitworth and 19-year-old Jamal Avery were shot at a construction site. Whitworth died at the scene from his injuries, while Avery was transported to the hospital in critical condition.

Avery’s wife witnessed the shooting. She stated that an argument broke out between Cato and the two workers. Cato reportedly left but returned within minutes armed with a gun, at which point both men were shot multiple times.

"Alan stepped in between them, and the gun was pointed at them. Alan tried to fight for it," she recalled.

Witnesses reported that the workers had been repairing a fence when the shooting occurred. Avery’s wife, along with other witnesses, saw Cato calmly walk away from the scene after the shooting.

"He didn’t run or jog. He just walked away as if nothing had happened," one witness stated.
