SUNRISE, Fla. — Around 1:37 a.m. on May 28, police responded to a call at the parking garage of The Retreat at Sawgrass Village. Inside a parked vehicle, officers found 28-year-old hairstylist Hailey Hosford fatally stabbed in the back seat. Her friend, Ian Bryant, had also suffered a neck wound but managed to escape and call 911 for help.
According to authorities, surveillance footage showed Bryant exiting a black sedan and entering an apartment building. Moments later, 21-year-old Jackson Julian Sagesse emerged holding a shiny object and approached the vehicle. As Hosford attempted to re-enter the car, Sagesse allegedly forced the door open and stabbed her repeatedly. He then confronted Bryant, inflicting a separate wound before fleeing the scene.
Officers located Sagesse shortly afterward in an apartment he shares with his mother. He was arrested without incident. Police said they recovered a steak knife on his person that matched one found inside the vehicle. According to the arrest affidavit, Sagesse confessed to the stabbing and allegedly told officers, “I just killed someone and walked away.” He later claimed he acted in self-defense.
Hosford, an entrepreneur from Boca Raton, owned the Hailey Jane Beauty Boutique and was also known as a yoga instructor. Bryant was hospitalized and is expected to survive.
Sagesse faces charges of first-degree premeditated murder and attempted murder. He remains in custody without bond as the investigation continues and prosecutors build their case.
