DailyKenn.com — Joshua Lee McCollister, 37, of Fort Bragg, California, was shot and killed inside a residence on July 8. Deputies responding to the scene found McCollister suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead on site.
After a multi-day investigation by the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division, two suspects were arrested on July 11. Danielle Roberta Durand, 41, was taken into custody during a felony traffic stop on Highway 101. Deunn Antoine Willis, 38, was arrested during a SWAT raid on a residence in Arcata.
Willis was booked on charges of murder, conspiracy, and robbery. Durand faces charges of conspiracy and robbery. Investigators believe McCollister and the suspects knew each other, though a specific motive has not been released.
The case remains under active investigation, and officials have urged anyone with information to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
