DailyKenn.com — An officer responding around 6:30 p.m. on July 7, 2025, found Shawn Franklin suffering from gunshot wounds in a store parking lot in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Franklin was 30 years old.

Investigators used surveillance footage to track the suspect’s vehicle—a blue Chevrolet pickup—to a residence in Lake Worth Beach, where it was found parked outside.

Police arrested 18-year-old Demetri Turner early the next morning. He was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm. According to authorities, Turner allegedly fired three shots at Franklin after the victim threw a beverage at his truck during an earlier dispute involving two young women Turner was driving.

Turner is being held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail.

Franklin’s death has been memorialized online and documented among this year’s gun violence incidents.
