DailyKenn.com — A 26-year-old man was fatally shot during a confrontation in a west Wichita neighborhood, prompting an arrest and an ongoing search for additional suspects, authorities said.
Officers responded to the 2700 block of West 2nd Street North around 2:30 p.m. on June 29 and found Nicholas T. Aldridge suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Police said Aldridge was involved in a disturbance with a group of men when the shooting occurred. All four individuals believed to have been involved fled the area before officers arrived.
On June 30, police arrested 27-year-old Elijah Fanning. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges including second-degree murder, criminal discharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and an outstanding warrant.
Investigators are still working to locate a second suspect and have not released additional details about the others allegedly involved.
