ORANGEBURG, S.C. — A 21-year-old man was fatally shot in Orangeburg County, South Carolina, on July 31, 2025, authorities said. The Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Alexander Bloodworth, a resident of Cope, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting in the 100 block of Navy Drive.

Deputies from the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident around 9 p.m. Thursday, where they found Bloodworth on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. A woman was also injured in the shooting, though her condition has not been disclosed. Despite the efforts of emergency services, Bloodworth succumbed to his injuries.

The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested 19-year-old Trivinci Mack in connection with the shooting. Mack faces charges related to the murder, though specific details about the motive or circumstances leading to the incident have not been released. Authorities are continuing their investigation, and an autopsy for Bloodworth was scheduled for Aug. 4, 2025.

The shooting has left the close-knit Cope community in mourning, with residents grappling with the loss of a young man described as a promising individual. No further details about suspects or the ongoing investigation have been provided by law enforcement.
