DailyKenn.com — We don't have a crime problem.
We don't have a gun problem.
We don't have a gang problem.
The problem is young black male thugs.
President Donald Trump has repeatedly criticized violent crime in Washington, D.C., calling for the city’s federalization due to rampant violence.
While federalization may be necessary, it’s not a solution. It only addresses the symptoms of deeper issues driving violent crime. Gun violence, crime, and the illegal drug trade stem from broader social disorder: feral young black males.
Data indicates that black individuals, who make up roughly 14% of the U.S. population, are disproportionately involved in violent crimes, accounting for approximately 51% of such incidents and 54.7% of homicides [source].
Further analysis shows that males account for 80% of violent crimes [source]. Approximately 41% of these crimes are committed by Black males, who represent about 7% of the U.S. population.
But what about age?
Very young black males (toddlers) can be counted out and prepubescent males move the needle, but not significantly.
Very old black males can also be counted out. The involvement of black males in violent crimes decreases with age, with older individuals less likely to offend.
Approximately 5% of black males in the U.S. population are neither children nor elderly, falling within the young adult to middle-aged range.
How do we know it's 5%?
42% of the population is 45 and older [source].
18% of the population is 14 or younger [source].
60%, therefore, are ages 14 to 44 years old.
60% of seven percent is 4.2%.
To more accurately reflect the data, we adjust the estimate from 4.2% to 5%, acknowledging the inclusion of very young and older offenders. This adjustment leads us to conclude that approximately five percent of the population—specifically, young black males aged 14 to 44—is responsible for about 41 percent of the violent crimes committed nationwide.
Transcending place and time
Apologists for black violence seem to believe it is a social problem caused by generations of racial discrimination in America.
But violent black behavior transcends geography. Wherever blacks live, criminal violence exceeds that of other people groups.
Black individuals in the UK are arrested at a rate of 20.4 per 1,000 population, compared to 9.4 per 1,000 for white individuals [source]. According to the 2021 Census data, approximately 4.2% of the population in England and Wales identified as "Black, Black British, Caribbean or African" and 81.7% was white, highlighting a significant disparity in arrest rates between these groups [source]
Blacks in the United Kingdom are more likely to be arrested than any other ethnic group.
Violent black behavior transcends time. Whenever blacks live, criminal violence exceeds that of other people groups.
In his autobiography, Abraham Lincoln recounts that at age 19, he and his friend, Gentry, were assaulted by a group of seven black males. Written in third person, Lincoln recalled, “[O]ne night they were attacked by seven negroes with intent to kill and rob them. They were hurt some in the melee, but succeeded in driving the negroes from the boat, and then ‘cut cable’ ‘weighed anchor’ and left.” [source]
The year was 1828. Nothing has changed.
In 1851, Dr. Samuel Cartwright, "a highly respected and widely published doctor from the University of Louisiana," created a term for the disorder: "Dysaethesia Aethiopica." He viewed it as a disease causing "rascality" in black people free and enslaved.
He wrote:
"From the careless movements of the individuals affected with the complaint, they are apt to do much mischief, which appears as if intentional, but is mostly owing to the stupidness of mind and insensibility of the nerves induced by the disease. Thus, they break, waste and destroy everything they handle,--abuse horses and cattle,--tear, burn or rend their own clothing, and, paying no attention to the rights of property, steal others, to replace what they have destroyed. They wander about at night, and keep in a half nodding sleep during the day. They slight their work,--cut up corn, cane, cotton or tobacco when hoeing it, as if for pure mischief. They raise disturbances with their overseers and fellow-servants without cause or motive, and seem to be insensible to pain when subjected to punishment. The fact of the existence of such a complaint, making man like an automaton or senseless machine, having the above or similar symptoms, can be clearly established by the most direct and positive testimony. That it should have escaped the attention of the medical profession, can only be accounted for because its attention has not been sufficiently directed to the maladies of the negro race. Otherwise a complaint of so common an occurrence on badly-governed plantations, and so universal among free negroes, or those who are not governed at all,--a disease radicated in physical lesions and having its peculiar and well marked symptoms and its curative indications, would not have escaped the notice of the profession. The northern physicians and people have noticed the symptoms, but not the disease from which they spring. They ignorantly attribute the symptoms to the debasing influence of slavery on the mind without considering that those who have never been in slavery, or their fathers before them, are the most afflicted, and the latest from the slave-holding South the least. The disease is the natural offspring of negro liberty--the liberty to be idle, to wallow in filth, and to indulge in improper food and drinks." — Diseases and Peculiarities of the Negro Race [source]
Conclusion:
Black "rascality" in the country's capitol is so problematic that it requires federalization. That is also true in virtually ever urban area in America where blacks live in large numbers.
Federal policing of our cities sets a dangerous precedent. The far left will, in time, regain control of Washington and with it the precedent to police us.
Notes:
• Not all black individuals are criminals, just as not all criminals are black. Those within the black community who embody civility as a way of life deserve the utmost respect and admiration.
• Without precise U.S. data isolating males 49 and older, an estimate can be inferred from the general trend that violent crime decreases with age. Likely, males 49 and older account for less than 10–15% of violent crime arrests, given the dominance of younger males in crime statistics.
• Young adults (ages 15-24) are notably overrepresented among violent offenders relative to their share of the population accounting for 27 percent of offenders in the USA [source].
• "Adults [ages 18 and above] comprised 89.9 percent of all persons arrested for violent crimes," according to FBI statistics (2016).
• AP (Associated Press) style guidelines recommend capitalizing "Black" but using lowercase for "white." In our approach, we opt for lowercase for both terms.
