FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 53-year-old man, Jamie Jones, was fatally shot in his front yard in Fayetteville on Aug. 15, 2025, authorities said. Police responded to the scene around 5:17 p.m. after reports of a shooting and found Jones with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite attempts at life-saving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Calvin Foster Jr., Jones' son-in-law, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. Foster is being held without bail at the Cumberland County Detention Center. Authorities confirmed the victim and suspect were related, noting the incident stemmed from a domestic situation. Police have not released further details about the motive or circumstances leading to the shooting.
