FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Rylee James Ferari, a 24-year-old from Colorado Springs, was one of two victims killed in a double homicide on July 3, 2025, along Highway 85 in Security-Widefield.
Deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a robbery around 10:45 p.m., finding Ferari and a 16-year-old juvenile dead inside a vehicle on Highway 85/87. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office identified Ferari but withheld the juvenile’s name due to their age.
Eddie Lacharles Jackson, 23, was arrested as a person of interest after being located at Denver International Airport by Denver police. Jackson faces two counts of second-degree murder and is held at the El Paso County Jail on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
Sheriff Joe Roybal called the incident a “senseless act of violence,” offering condolences and praising the rapid response of law enforcement. The investigation continues, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
Ferari’s obituary portrayed her as a cherished individual whose memory endures among family and friends. A visitation and funeral were held on July 18, 2025, at Dove Witt Family Mortuary in Fountain, with attendees encouraged to wear Denver Broncos jerseys or colors in her honor. A GoFundMe campaign was established to assist her family with medical expenses, reflecting community support. The tragedy underscores ongoing concerns about gun violence in the area.
