PONTIAC, Mich. (DailyKenn.com) — Antonio Jason "Taco" Craig Sr., 52, of Pontiac, was fatally shot multiple times while sitting in his pickup truck, equipped with a salt spreader, outside an apartment complex on Karen Court near Hopkins Avenue. The incident unfolded just before 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, 2025, as Craig was braving the winter chill to prepare roads for the season's first major snow.

Terrell Quayshawn Edwards, a 26-year-old from Pontiac, Michigan, is the person accused of shooting Craig. He is Craig's stepson.
Oakland County Sheriff's deputies on routine patrol spotted the idling truck and approached to check on the driver. They found Craig slumped over the wheel, unresponsive and suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper body. Despite immediate efforts to render aid, including CPR and advanced life support, paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. The truck's engine was still running, a grim testament to the suddenness of the attack.
Hours later, around 9:40 p.m., authorities tracked the suspect to a restaurant parking lot in nearby Waterford Township, near Dixie Highway and Scott Lake Road. The 26-year-old Pontiac man, identified as a relative of Craig's, was arrested without incident after a brief traffic stop. He was riding as a passenger in another vehicle when deputies, aided by K-9 units and a drone for surveillance, moved in. The suspect, whose name has not been released pending formal charges, was booked into Oakland County Jail. Prosecutors are reviewing the case and expected to file charges as early as Tuesday, potentially including first-degree murder and weapons offenses.
The motive remains under investigation, but family members described the shooting as a betrayal by someone Craig had treated like kin. "Why? Why? Why? When he didn't do nothing but love you," Craig's daughter, Ashlee Janae Craig, pleaded through tears, echoing the anguish felt by those closest to the victim. Ashlee recounted the harrowing moment she learned of the shooting and rushed to the scene: "It was the worst feeling ever. And it just keeps replaying back in my head. ... My world was just spinning. I just kept on asking, 'Can I hold him? Can I just hold him?'"
Craig's son, Antonio Craig Jr., spoke of his father's unwavering reliability. "I was calling his phone for hours. My dad, like, never not answer his phone, and if he do, he, like, calls or texts you right back." Neighbors, too, mourned the man they knew as kind and dependable. "We were all scared and shook up. Just didn't believe it. We couldn't believe it, that that happened," said Carol Cooper, who lived nearby. "And the guy, he was a really good guy too."
Born July 14, 1973, Craig was the rock of his family, raising not only his biological children — Carrie White, Antonio Jr. and Ashlee — but also two non-biological siblings. He leaves behind his wife, Kimberly; a brother, Juan; a close friend and "special brother," Reggie; and 11 grandchildren, with another on the way. Described by relatives as a hardworking father who put family first, Craig's death has shattered the tight-knit Pontiac household.
"I look forward to seeing him held fully accountable," Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said of the suspect, praising the rapid response that led to the arrest. "With swift, coordinated work and the full strength of our combined resources, our team was able to identify the suspect in this senseless homicide, locate him, and take him into custody."
As the family prepares for a visitation on Dec. 13 at Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, grief has given way to a resolve to honor Craig's memory. "We aim to stay whole for my daddy," Ashlee said. "Because I know that's all he wants." In Pontiac's working-class neighborhoods, where Craig's salt truck was a familiar sight, residents have begun leaving flowers at the site, a quiet tribute to a man whose life ended too soon amid the hush of falling snow.
