SPRING GROVE, Pa. — Authorities in York County are investigating the deaths of a man and woman in what police described as a domestic-related shooting that ended in tragedy.

The incident occurred on the afternoon of Jan. 31 at the Spring Hollow Apartments in the first block of East Third Avenue. According to York County Regional Police, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:15 p.m. after neighbors alerted authorities to sounds of disturbance and shots fired.

Residents in the complex recounted hearing loud banging from inside one of the units in the D block shortly before the violence spilled outside. One neighbor, who asked not to be named, said they saw a man step out of the apartment and fire at a woman, striking her in the back. Moments later, the man turned the weapon on himself, collapsing nearby. Another nearby resident described hearing the initial commotion followed by rapid gunshots, prompting them to seek cover and call emergency services.

Police arrived to find both individuals unresponsive on the ground outside the building. Emergency personnel pronounced them dead at the scene around 4:15 p.m. The York County Coroner's Office later identified the victims as Leticia Velez, 32, and Tyrelle Dwayne Manley Sr., 33, both residents of the apartment. Autopsies conducted on Feb. 3 at Lehigh Valley Hospital determined that each died from multiple gunshot wounds. Officials classified Velez's death as a homicide, while Manley's manner of death was ruled a suicide, consistent with the sequence described by witnesses.

Investigators believe the pair were in a relationship, though no prior reports of domestic disputes at the address had been filed with local police. Family members of Manley told authorities he had faced ongoing mental health challenges but was known as a caring figure who helped raise a young relative after a family loss. Velez, employed as a customer service representative, was remembered by colleagues as dedicated and reliable.

No criminal charges will be filed, as the suspected shooter is deceased, police confirmed. The event was deemed isolated, with no broader threat to the community.

In the quiet borough of Spring Grove, the shooting has left residents shaken. Several locals expressed shock at the sudden violence in their tight-knit neighborhood, with one apartment dweller noting increased vigilance among families. Community leaders have called for greater awareness of mental health resources, while online tributes from friends and relatives highlighted the personal toll, urging support for those affected.

The investigation continues, with police encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward.
